One resolution everyone should make is to be more diligent about taking care of their cars. Preventative maintenance is very important and can ultimately save you a lot of money. Oil Changes
Get your oil and oil filter changed every 3,000-5,000 depending on your engine and manufacturer recommendations. Without fresh, clean oil, your engine could seize up and you don't want to know how expensive it can be to replace an engine!
Tire Rotations
Make sure your tire treads have good depth and keep the treads equally worn across all four tires. A routine tire rotation every 5,000-6,000 is recommended. A wheel alignment check is also a good idea to keep your tires in the best shape possible and improve handling on the road.
Brake Inspection
It's a good idea to get your brake pads and rotors inspected at least once or twice a year. Your brakes help keep you safe and you want to make sure they are in good shape at all times.
Transmission Service
Most cars only need transmission service every 30,000 miles or so, but it is very important to change the transmission fluid and filter to keep everything properly lubricated within the transmission. Again, major transmission problems are no joke and can lead to expensive repairs, rebuilds or replacements.
Fluid Checks
We've already mentioned oil and transmission fluid. Also make sure to keep the desired levels and fluid quality maintained for your radiator coolant (antifreeze), brake fluid, power steering fluid and air conditioner coolant (Freon).
Air Filters
If your engine air filter or cabin air filter are dirty, it will greatly impact the performance of your vehicle. Get them looked at and replaced as needed.
